Glue gun fun

After making the first hat, I became addicted and made two more so far. Trying a few different ways to attach the black fabric to them. The next time I see bolts of fabric for sale at walmart I must buy at least two bolts of black fabric since I know I will use this one up.I am not sure why I originally bought my tiny glue gun from walmart. It was no more than $5 and the sticks cost about $3 for a pack of 30.

To decorate the first hat I decided on using the white ribbon that I had lying around from when I altered the dress shirt. The spool of ribbon cost about $1 at walmart. I took a small strip and hot glued it around the base of the midsection of the hat. Next I took some thread and gathered one end of the ribbon to make a tiny rosette attaching that with hot glue as well.

At the same time I bought the white ribbon I bought several spools of the black ribbon which was about $3 per spool. This is the same ribbon I used to put ruffles on the umbrella.
After sewing the ribbon on the sewing machine to gather it a bit I folded it over so the underside was longer than the up side and sewed it to the base of the second hat. I then went back and used hot glue to secure it to the edge.

Next I found a nifty tutorial to make ribbon roses here. I took the black ribbon and cut it in half length wise and only cut off about 15in of material to make two tiny rosettes. Then I used about 20in of ribbon the full width to make a third larger rosette. I used the hot glue gun to attach all of them to the second hat.

I glued strips of fabric across the bottoms of each of the hats in an effort to have someplace to clip on to the hat when attaching it to my hair. I then found some pink ribbon in my apartment and decided the best way to store them, for now, would be to string them all on the ribbon.
